CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Uniform Evolution Details Reveal Plot Info
Yesterday we got our first real look at the new uniform that Captain America will be wearing in Captain America: The Winter Solider. A lot of people noticed that the color red isn't included in the costume; it's just white and blue. If you didn't like it, you're not alone: apparently Steve Rogers might not like it either.
If you don't want to know anymore information about what the evolution of Cap's uniform involves, then I suggest you stop reading right here because I know many of you will consider this stuff SPOILER information. I will say that the information revealed, if true, is pretty cool, and you might want to consider holding off and letting the mystery and suspense build.
If not... then by all means read on!

Basically, the costume we've seen is his S.H.I.E.L.D. issued uniform. Regardless of the lack of the color red, I like the costume design. It still gets the point across that he fights for America. It also comes right out of the comics. Apparently though, by the end of the film he will be back in his original costume from the first film.
Here are the details thanks to an inside source from JoBlo.com!
This is Cap's S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform (obviously) but for circumstances unknown (either it getting destroyed or Cap hating it), at some point in the film, Steve breaks into the Smithsonian and steals back his 40's uniform. So for all of us that loved the Johnston suit, Captain America will be back in it by the end of the movie. Sort of takes the sting away from this lameness.
The report cleverly suggests that there's a possibility that Rogers wears the old uniform "to confront The Winter Soldier/Bucky as a means to jarring his memory." I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out, but it will be cool to see Rogers back in his old uniform.
