Netflix Renews HEMLOCK GROVE for Second Season

TV Eli RothNetflix by Joey Paur

Netflix has given Eli Roth's horror thriller Hemlock Grove the green light for a second season! I thought the first season was pretty good. It had its weaknesses, but I think this next time around they'll be able to polish it up and give us a solid second season. I'm looking forward to seeing the series continue.

The series is based on Brian McGreevy’s gothic horror novel of the same name, and it and explores the strange supernatural happenings in a small Pennsylvania town involving vampires, werewolves and other mythical creatures. Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgård starred in the first season, and I assume several of the characters from the first season will be back for the second.

Charles H. (Chic) Eglee (The Walking Dead, Dexter) will be joining the series as the showrunner, and this time around we'll only get 10 episodes instead of 13, which season one had. Roth had this to say in a statement,

The worldwide fan response to Hemlock Grove was phenomenal. Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season One was just a warm up for what we have in store for season two. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected.

I guess we'll see, but I don't think the story is really all that scary in the first place. Cindy Holland, VP of Original Content at Netflix added,

In its first season, Eli, Brian, Lee and the team did an incredible job of introducing viewers to a unique world of memorable characters. Chic’s addition to the show, and his experience on such fan favorites as The ShieldThe Walking Dead and Dexter, will heighten the intensity of the mystery that grips Hemlock Grove.

Are you excited for a second season of this series?
