RESIDENT EVIL 6 Starts Shooting in The Fall

Screen Gems previously announced that Resident Evil 6 would be released on September 12th, 2014. At one point, it didn't seem like director Paul W.S. Anderson would be able to get the film into production on time to make that release date. This is due to his commitment for another film he's shooting called PompeiiMilla Jovovich even took to Twitter at one point saying that the movie wouldn't be released until 2015. Now, according to The Star, he'll start shooting in the fall. This means he'll have very little breathing room when he moves from Pompeii to Resident Evil 6. Here, Anderson explains to them what inspired him to start the Resident Evil movie franchise:

As a teenager I used to love zombie flicks. They were very, very popular with directors like (George A.) Romero and (Lucio) Fulci. That’s one of the reasons I created the first Resident Evil; I looked at the genre and thought, wow, I used to love this stuff and nobody had made a zombie film for over a decade, so I decided to make one. It ended up being the first in a whole slew of undead films.

I think the undead genre really plays to primal human fears. That kind of stuff never goes out of fashion. The themes of a zombie story are always good; they make for good filmmaking.

I haven't really cared for the last few Resident Evil films. They seem to be getting worse and worse, which is a shame. They should be getting better! Jovovich is set to return to the series as Alice. As of right now, no plot details have been revealed, but one thing I do know is that these movies aren't getting any better.
