Trailer for THE TURNING, Helmed by 17 Directors

Here's the first trailer for The Turning, an adaptation of Tim Winton‘s novel. The film project was helmed by 17 different directors--each took one chapter of the book and adapted it. Some of those directors include first timers Cate Blanchett (LOTR), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland), and David Wenham (300). As for the cast of the film, we have Hugo Weaving, Rose Byrne, and Miranda Otto

The story spans 30 years in a small coastal community and has 17 interconnected stories. It kind of reminds me of Cloud Atlas, only this is on a much smaller scale. Here's a description from the book:

Here are turnings of all kinds - changes of heart, nasty surprises, slow awakenings, sudden detours - where people struggle against the terrible weight of the past and challenge the lives they've made for themselves. Beautifully crafted, and as tender as they are confronting, these elegiac stories examine the darkness and frailty of ordinary people and celebrate the moments when the light shines through.

The movie is set to premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival next month.
