Hollywood Doppelgänger Math

We're all aware that many people in Hollywood share an uncanny resemblance. We're not about to rattle off some tired list of celebrity twins. Instead, we take things up a notch with Hollywood Doppelgänger Math, a new series from GeekTyrant that is sure to change the way you look at actors and the roles they play. To make the cut, a person has to look like the sum of at least two other people. For this first collection, we focused on equations that resulted in young and/or up-and-coming actors. We have also included a list of other connections the actors share.

  • All three have played secondary love interests in popular sitcoms; Amy Adams in The Office, Alison Brie in Community, and Alexandra Daddario in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
  • Both Adams and Brie have played sisters to characters portrayed by Emily Blunt; Adams in Sunshine Cleaners and Brie in The Five-Year Engagement.
  • All of their names begin with the letter A. 

  • David Krumholtz and Jake Johnson were born in the same month of the same year (May 1978).
  • Krumhlotz and Johnson have both appeared in films which starred Jonah Hill; Krumholtz in Superbad, and Johnson in 21 Jumpstreet.

  • Renée Zellweger and Jennifer Garner were both born in Texas. 
  • Jennifer Garner and Jennfer Lawrence have both portrayed Marvel characters in multiple movies; Garner as Elektra in Daredevil and the standalone Elektra film, and Lawrence as Mystique in X-Men: First Class and the upcoming Days of Future Past.
  • Both Garner and Lawrence have been in films involving time travel, Garner in 13 Going on 30 and Lawrence in Days of Future Past.

  • Orlando Bloom and Luke Evans starred together in The Three Musketeers, and both have roles in The Hobbit trilogy.
  • Bloom and Evans have both played the son of characters portrayed by Liam Neeson; Bloom in Kingdom of Heaven and Evans in Clash of The Titans.

  • Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Brie Larson starred together in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and both have roles in the upcoming comedy The Spectacular Now.
  • Both Winstead and Larson appeared on episodes of Touched by an Angel
  • On the TV show Renegade, Megyn Price played a character named Mary Larson, which shares Winstead's first name and Larson's last name.

 

  • All three have  been in films with Zach Galifianakis; Michael Cera and Justin Long in Youth in Revolt, and Thomas Mann in It's Kind of a Funny Story
  • Cera and Mann have both appeared in comedies that take place primarily in one night and revolve around a high school party; Cera in Superbad and Mann in Project X.
  • Cera and Mann have both played characters in films who drive yellow cars and are helping a girl find someone; Cera in Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and Mann in Fun Size
  • Long and Cera have both starred in multiple projects with Jonah Hill; long in Accepted and the TV show Campus Ladies, and Cera in Superbad and the upcoming film This is the End.
  • All three have played characters with the same name as their own; Justin in Dodgeball, Thomas in Project X, and Michael in five of his TV and movie projects.

 

  • Bryce Dallas Howard and Jessica Chastain starred together in The Help
  • Jennifer Garner and Chastain have both appeared in films which take place in the Middle East; Garner in The Kingdom and Chastain in Zero Dark Thirty.
  • Howard and Garner have both played iconic Marvel characters; Howard as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3 and Garner as Elektra in Daredevil.

 

  • All three have starred in high school comedies well into their twenties; John Cusack in Say Anything at age 23, Jonah Hill in Superbad at age 24, and Miles Teller in The Spectacular Now at age 26. 
  • All three have appeared in comedies that take place primarily in one night and revolve around a high school party; Cusack in Sixteen Candles, Hill in Superbad, and Teller in Project X.
  • Cusack and Hill have both appeared in films with Dustin Hoffman; Cusack in Runaway Jury and Hill in I Heart Huckabees. Hill, who is friends with Hoffman's children, got his start in acting thanks to Hoffman requesting he have a role in Huckabees.
  • Hill and Teller have remarkably similar voices.

 

  • All three have played the love interest of a character who is undead, Amber Heard in Drive Angry, Kristen Stewart in the Twilight franchise, and Teresa Palmer in Warm Bodies.
  • Heard and Palmer have both been in films revolving around a zombie apocalypse; Heard in Zombieland, and Palmer in Warm Bodies
  • Heard and Stewart have both played a love interest of Jesse Eisenberg; Heard in Zombieland, and Stewart in Adventureland
  • Heard and Palmer have both been in films starring Nicolas Cage; Heard in Drive Angry and Palmer in The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
