Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Joins Alex Proyas' GODS OF EGYPT

Movie Alex Proyas by Joey Paur

Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been cast as the main character in Alex Pyoyas' epic fantasy film project Gods of Egypt.

According to The Wrap, the story "is set in ancient Egypt against the legendary world of great pyramids and sphinxes. Coster-Waldau would play Horus, the god of the sky, who teams up with a human thief and Hathor, the goddess of love, on a magical quest to avenge the death of his father, Osiris."

Proyas hasn't made a film since Knowing. He's been in development on a few projects but they all seem to have fallen through. Most notably Paradise Lost, which he was supposed to do with Bradley Cooper. Gods of Egypt sounds like it could be an incredible movie, and Coster-Waldau should be great in it. It will be good to see Proyas develop an epic sounding movie like that. Hopefully he can pull it off!

On top of Game of Thrones, the actor recently starred in the sci-fi film Oblivion and the horror film Mama. He also recently wrapped an indie drama called A Thousand Times Good Night, and he's currently filming the male lead in Nick Cassavetes' upcoming comedy The Other Woman, with Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann.
