THE GUIDED FATE PARADOX: Strategy Dungeon Crawling Outside the Box

The Guided Fate Paradox is a new title from fan favorite developer of the weird and zany, Nippon Ichi. They're also developers of the cult hit Disgaea, and you can definitely see some similarities in their new title, from its overall look (higher res 2D Sprites on 3D backdrops) to certain aspects of its gameplay. While that's great news on its own, what really gets me giddy is how you are no longer restricted to one plane. In the trailer you can see the characters walk on multiple sides of the environment, and have abilities that take advantage of that as well (as seen in the tower image above). That opens up a ton of strategic options in a game that at its core is a strategy dungeon crawl. As for the story, well, its a wonderfully ridiculous tale of a high school student named Renya who wins the lottery in a mall, and the prize is not money, but the chance to become a god. Throw in an interesting group of angels and you've got yourself 60 to 80 hours of crazy fun.

Also saw a prinny hat being worn in one of the screens, so there are hats too. Not a huge feature, but I like hats. Stop looking at me like that.

Anyway, I can't wait for this game, as its the perfect amount of "wha?" and "amazing" I've been craving this year. Make sure to check out the screens and the trailer below, and if you like what you see make sure to check the game out when it releases later this fall.
