PACIFIC RIM Takes $91 Million Opening Weekend, 58% of It Internationally

Cancel the Flopacalypse, Pacific Rim   got more than a little help from international audiences this weekend. The film totaled out at $38 million domestically, but made $53 million worldwide! Some are attributing this success to the international casting, whereas I think it's having a simple dialog mixed with the high budget.  Not a bad start for a film with a $190 million budget, and hopefully they'll pull a little profit off this film so we can see a sequel. I loved this film, personally, and while some of the acting was worse than what you saw in say,    Starship Troopers , the action and visuals more than make up for it! Another quick note for those unsure...minus monster violence, this film is completely kid friendly. In fact, I sat next to a family who enjoyed the film all the way through.
