I Survived the "GODZILLA EXPERIENCE" at Comic-Con

Legendary Pictures has brought Godzilla to San Diego Comic-Con! The studio is putting on a awesome fan event at throughout the convention called the "Godzilla Experience." I had the opportunity to check it out yesterday, and it was a blast!

They ended up creating a little corner of Tokyo Japan in a big warehouse packed full of all kinds of Godzilla memorabilia. It includes on of the Godzilla suits that some poor guy wore when making one of the Godzilla movies. I believe it was from Godzilla 2000.  The area also included a sushi bar with Japanese customers just minding their own business doing their thing. I've included a video tour and photos from this location of the experience below. But thing took a turn for the worse, and we weren't allowed to take any more photos.

As I'm walking around taking picture the light dim and start to flicker. You can hear thuds in the distance. A door opens in front of me and a guy in a hazmat suit come rushing in telling us to get inside a underground bunker or bomb shelter. Once in, we see a team of scientists frantically working on trying to figure out what is going on. There are TV screens showing the military in action.

From there we are rushed into an elevator that takes us up to the 25th floor of the building. The elevator ride was rough, violently shaking as it moved to the top floor. Why they would take us to the top floor during this insanity is beyond me as it doesn't seem like the safest thing to do, but that's where we end up.

We exit the elevator into an office room with a view of the city. As we stare out the window of the dark office the building shakes and we hear more thuds in the distance. As they get closer and closer Godzilla comes into view, and stomps across the city and out of view! There's a moment of silence, and once you think the worst of it is over Godzilla's giant head comes to the window and looks in wile giving a blood-curdling scream! It was glorious!

That was basically the end of the experience, but it was insanely fun. Legendary Pictures did a fantastic job bringing it to life. If you're at the convention I highly suggest trying to check it out! Just go to the Legendary booth for details.

I also found out that the footage of Godzilla shown in during this presentation is not the Godzilla design that we will see in the movie as previously believed. Check out the video and photos below!
