Want a Sequel to DREDD? Sign this Petition!
I was really happy with the way Karl Urban's Dredd turned out. I was so happy about it that I wanted to see a sequel! Unfortunately, when the movie was released in theaters no one went to see it. It only pulled in $13.4 million domestically, which may have killed any hope for a sequel. The film has done a lot better since it was released on Blu-ray and DVD, and it has become a cult hit.
I'm pretty confident that if a sequel is made at this point it will do better at the box office than the first movie because the audience has grown. But there's still no way a studio will make the film unless they can see that there's an big enough audience out there.
Well, that campaign has begun. The publishers of Judge Dredd, 2000AD, have created an official petition to send to Lionsgate in the hopes of making that sequel a reality. If they can get an impressive amount of signatures there may be a chance a sequel will happen. So if you want to see Dredd 2, then sign the damn petition!
