Disney Developing Live-Action JUNGLE BOOK Film

Movie Disney by Joey Paur

Disney is moving forward with a live action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel The Jungle Book.  They've hired Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li) to write the script for the film. Disney previously adapted the book into an animated feature back in 1967, and as a live-action film in 1994. The '90s adaptation was directed by Stephen Sommers and starred Jason Scott Lee and Lena Headey.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the story of The Jungle Book, but if you've been living under a rock your whole life it follows the adventures of a young boy named Mowgli, who was raised by wolves, and is friends with a bear named Baloo and a panther named Bagheera. One of the villains of the story is a tiger named Shere Khan.

According to THR, the studio is currently on the hunt for a director, and if they bring the right person on board, this has the potential to be a solid film. Marks also adapted the sci-fi short film The Raven, and wrote an early draft of the script for Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea reboot.
