Bryan Singer on the Timeline of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

X-Men: Days of Future Past looks freakin' incredible! Director Bryan Singer showed off a good chunk of footage from the movie at Comic-Con, and the audience went crazy for it. You can read a description of the footage here. While talking to Empire Magazine, Singer discussed the film, the placement of it in the movie franchise, and the timeline.

"It takes place about ten years, give or take, after X-Men 3; and in the past it takes place about ten years after First Class.”

He goes on to explain that the movie is not a sequel.

"It’s its own story, inspired by Days Of Future Past. I’d say it’s not a sequel to one of the others. It’s an inbetwequel — that’s what I call it, for lack of a better word."

Singer also talks about the scope of the story saying,

“They’re in a radically different place. Charles is in a very dark hole when we meet him, and Erik has been gathering his power.”
“It takes place in the future and the past and then all over the world, from Russia to China, then France, and Washington, New York. It’s got scope, but most of the scope is in the breadth of the story.”

The film will be released in theater on May 23rd, 2014, and I can't wait!
