Louis Leterrier to Direct NOW YOU SEE ME Sequel
A couple weeks ago it was announced that a sequel to the magician heist film Now You See Me would be going into development. I just assumed everyone involved from the first film would return for the second, but comingsoon.net recently talked to Louis Leterrier, who confirmed that he will for sure be back to direct the sequel as well. He then went on to say,
"Obviously it was always part of it. I'm currently, not writing, but we're coming up with the story, the plot, the everything, the twist and the new characters and everything. It was always at least a diptych, two movies, to tell one long story, so yeah, I'm very much involved in it. I don't know if it's going to be my next movie. I know we want to do it pretty fast but I might be able to do another movie in between."
New characters? Does that mean Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Woody Harrelson won't be back? Or is he talking about adding new characters to the story? I would love to see the story continue with the original characters instead of seeing a new group of people being put through a test like they were. I hate sequels that follow the same story formula as the first movie. The first movie followed a group of talented magicians who get involved with a bank robbery and several other heists and cons.
I thought Leterrier did a solid job directing the movie, and I'm glad to hear that he'll be back for the sequel. Hopefully he comes up with a good story!
