MAD MEN's Final Season Split in Two Parts

TV Mad Men by Joey Paur

I hate when this happens. AMC has decided to split the final season of Mad Men into two parts. They did the same thing with Breaking Bad's final season, which I thought was ridiculous. The final season of Mad Men will get 14 episodes, the first half of the season will air in spring of 2014, and the second will air in spring of 2015. They might as well just give them their own seasons. I don't know. I personally think the breaking up of these final seasons is ridiculous and uncalled for, but it's not like the audience has a say in the matter. AMC president Charlie Collier had this to say in a statement,

“This approach has worked well for many programs across multiple networks, and, most recently for us with Breaking Bad which attracted nearly double the number of viewers to its second half premiere than had watched any previous episode.”

Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner added,

“We are determined to bring Mad Men a similar showcase. We plan to take advantage of this chance to have a more elaborate story told in two parts, which can resonate a little bit longer in the minds of our audience."

What's funny is that they love the idea, but the viewers hate it. I don't know any Breaking Bad fans that enjoyed the fact they had to wait so long to see how the show ended. It does no good to complain though, they've made their decision and now fans of the series will be forced to wait.
