Tom Hiddleston Replaces Benedict Cumberbatch in CRIMSON PEAK

A couple of weeks ago Benedict Cumberbatch dropped out of director Guillermo del Toro's next horror film, Crimson Peak. It was sad to see him go, but at least he was replaced by another awesome actor! Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers) has officially joined the film production. There's still no information of the character that he will be playing, but I can only imagine it's a sinister role, and he'll be great in it! He joins Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone, and Charlie Hunnam,

Del Toro has previously talked about the tone of the film, explaining that it's “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story," and that it will allow him "to play with the conventions of the genre [he knows and loves], and at the same time subvert the old rules." He goes into more detail in this statement,

"It’s the turn of the century. So it’s at the turn of the century and half of the movie takes place in America, and the other half takes place in a crumbling mansion in Cumbria. And basically it’s a ghost story and gothic romance, trying to subvert the rules of the usual gothic romance. It’s very much... the first half is a love story, then that love story turns darker. And it’s at the same time a ghost story. I’m working at this moment with Lucinda Clarkson who is a really great playwright from the UK. She has the proper degree of perversity and intelligence to turn it into something interesting to watch. It’s sort of a very compelling version of the classic gothic romance, where you have the spookiness and the windswept landscape that dooms the characters, you know?"
