Trailer for Jesse Eisenberg's Dark Comedy THE DOUBLE

Here's an interesting trailer for Jesse Eisenberg's new film The Double, which is labeled as being a comedy, but as you'll see in this trailer, it looks a lot more like a psychological thriller. The story follows a man, played by Eisenberg, who is driven into madness by the sudden appearance of his doppelganger who starts to take over his life. The film is based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and here's the synopsis,

Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simon's exact physical double and his opposite — confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simon's horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.

The movie was directed by Richard Ayoade (Submarine), and also stars Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Noah Taylor, and Yasmin Paige

The movie is set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival this weekend, but no U.S. theatrical release date has been set yet.
