21 JUMP STREET Reportedly Being Rebooted with Tiffany Haddish and Awkwafina

It looks like 21 Jump Street may end up getting rebooted again. According to Collider, the studio wants Tiffany Haddish (Night School) and Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) to star in the film.

If it helps, Phil Lord and Chris Miller are expected to return to produce the film, and 22 Jump Street writer Rodney Rothman will write and direct.

As far as the plot goes, Haddish’s character will play a police officer who goes undercover at a high school as a teacher. At 39 years old, there’s no way she would pass as a student! It’s also explained that she will also be posing as the mother of a new student, who will also be an undercover cop. That role would go to Awkwafina.

Haddish is exploding in Hollywood right now, and according to the report, Sony Pictures is looking to rebuild its Jump Street franchise around her. The studio is also obviously eager to cater to female audiences.

It’s also been confirmed that the Jump Street and MIB crossover film is no longer happening.

What do you all think about Tiffany Haddish and Awkwafina leading the charge on the new 21 Jump Street franchise reboot?
