3 Generations of SHAFT Actors Unite For a Photo on the Set of the Reboot

A new photo from the set of the upcoming Shaft reboot was recently posted on the official Isaac Hayes memorial Twitter account. The photo opp brings together three generations of Shaft actors that include the legendary original Shaft actor Richard Roundtree from the 1970s films; Samuel L. Jackson, who played his nephew in the 2000 film; and then there's Jessie T. Usher, who is the newest addition to the Shaft family. He is the son of Jackson's character. Here's the synopsis from the upcoming film:

He may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend’s untimely death, JJ—aka John Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher)—will need an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ’s youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft (Jackson) agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem’s heroin-infested underbelly. And while JJ’s own FBI analyst’s badge may clash with his dad’s trademark leather duster, there’s no denying family. Besides, Shaft’s got an agenda of his own, and a score to settle that’s professional and personal.

The film is being directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four) and it's pretty cool to see Richard Rountree and Samuel L. Jackson come back to reprise their roles for this latest film in the franchise. As a fan, I hope it turns out good!
