3 New Superhero Characters Cast in THE BOYS Season 3 Including Sean Patrick Flannery as Gunpowder
Three more superhero characters have been cast in the upcoming third season of Amazon’s The Boys. Those actors include Sean Patrick Flannery (The Boondock Saints), Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders), and Nick Wechsler (Revenge).
Flannery will take on the role of Gunpowder, Villaneuva will play Supersonic, and Wechsler will be playing Blue Hawk. These are all original characters that were created for the series. They are not in the comic book series, so there’s not much information on who they are or what their powers are. But you can make some assumptions on what those might be based on their superhero names.
There are rumors online that suggest Blue Hawk might be an ex-boyfriend of Starlight (Erin Moriarty), but there's no official word yet on that.
The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the supergroup known as ‘The Seven.’
The Boys creator Eric Kripke recently hyped up the upcoming season teasing that the Season 3 premiere will feature one of the "craziest things" in television history.
The series also stars Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, and Karl Urban along with Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, and Nathan Mitchell. Then there’s Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) who is taking on the role of Soldier Boy.
The Boys series was created by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke. Season 1 and Season 2 are available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
