3 STAR WARS Spin-Off Films Are Currently in Development

We know that on top of the new Star Wars trilogy, Disney and Lucasfilm also plan to produce some solo films set in that universe. During the Walt Disney Company quarterly earning stockholders call, Disney CEO Bob Iger offered an update on the Star Wars spin-off movies.

He said that as of right now there are "at least three" Star Wars spin off films in development, and they will be released alongside the main sequel trilogy. Up to this point, only two of these Star Wars projects have been confirmed.

The solo films they are looking to make have previously been described as being origin stories. None of the films have been officially announced yet, but there have been rumors about films that would include Han Solo, Yoda, and Boba Fett. All of these would make sense to do, but right now all we know about these movies is that Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are developing screenplays for whichever characters the studio has chosen to focus on. Who knows, maybe some of these solo films they plan on making will feature some of the new characters being developed for the new trilogy.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set to be released in theaters on December 18th, 2015. It's so exciting to hear that these Star Wars movies are actually moving forward.
