30 New Images From THE X-FILES Season 11 and an Amusing Alien Prank Video

I don't know about you, but I'm ridiculously excited about the return of The X-Files for an eleventh season! Now today we've got about 30 new photos from the upcoming series to share with you teasing the crazy events that will transpire over the course of the first two episodes. It looks like Agent's Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) are going to go through some rough times. We also have a brief plot summary for each of those episodes.

Episode one is called "My Struggle III" and it was written and directed by Chris Carter:

Picking up after the last event series’ cliffhanger, Mulder and Scully learn that they aren’t the only ones desperately searching for their long-lost son, William. The very fate of the world may depend on it.

Episode two is called "This" and it will include the return of Dean Haglund as Richard ‘Ringo’ Langly. It's described as follows:

An old friend reaches out to Mulder and Scully in a seemingly impossible way, revealing a chilling secret.

When teasing what we can expect, a previous report revealed:

With more monster-of-the-week episodes this season, fans can expect season 11 to be united in theme but varied in tone. After episode one delves into the Cigarette Smoking Man’s (William B. Davis) backstory and apparent family ties to Mulder, the second hour opens with a time jump to put distance between Mulder and Scully and the events of the premiere. And episode three is a darkly comedic hour, penned by Carter, focusing on doubles and doppelgängers. But beyond the humor, the larger mythology of The X-Files — like the fallout from Scully’s abduction and the chip that was implanted in her neck — continues to shape Mulder and Scully’s world.

Carter has also said that we’ll get a "new angle" on Mulder and Scully’s long-suffering FBI boss, Assistant Director Skinner, which is said to be an origin episode. He also adds that “Familiar alliances are rattled”, which is teased in this promo.

The series also stars Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Karin Konoval, Barbara Hershey, and Haley Joel OsmentThe X-Files is set to premiere on January 3rd, 2018.

Before you check out all the images, here's a fun little video showing an alien prank that was set up in New York City.
