31-Disc Set of Peter Jackson’s MIDDLE-EARTH ULTIMATE COLLECTOR’S EDITION Available October 26th

To celebrate 20 years since the release of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, a 31-Disc set of Peter Jackson’s MIDDLE-EARTH ULTIMATE COLLECTOR’S EDITION will be available October 26th on 4k ultra HD and Blu-ray. This collectors edition will have everything a fan could possibly want. You’ll get the theatrical and extended versions of all three Lord of the Rings movies as well as the three The Hobbit movies. It will come in a “Puzzle Box” collectible packaging and include a 64-page booklet featuring costumes, photography and production notes from the film, and art cards featuring travel posters and images from iconic locations throughout Middle-earth including The Shire, Lake-Town, Erebor, Anduin, Rohan, Minas Trith, and Rivendell. Here’s a list of special features you can expect to see:

  • Cannes Film Festival Presentation Reel

  • Alamo Drafthouse Cast Reunion

  • “The Fellowship of the Ring” – RT: 39:38 (with Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Sean Astin and Elijah Wood)

  • “The Two Towers” – RT: 32:24 (with Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler and Viggo Mortenson)

  • “The Return of the King” – RT: 29:48 (with Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis, and Peter Jackson)

I am surprised that there aren’t more bonus features in this collectors edition, I would have expected to see popular past special features listed so don’t get rid of your old copies yet, but I think that all the extra things like the book and art cards make up for it. Lord of the Rings has come a long way, I remember getting the first one on VHS and now you can get 31 discs of movies and special features in 4k and Blu-ray. This new collectors edition is available for pre-order now for $239.99.
