42 Hidden Things In Blizzconline's "Behind The Scenes of OVERWATCH 2"
We got a pretty big info dump from the video they released last Friday, but after combing through it a few more times, we found a bunch of untold information hiding throughout the video. Because these clips were taken from various builds and these things were not officially commented on, all comments and “hidden things” below stand as speculation and observation. We’ve timestamped everything and provided the best screenshots we could. There are a lot of things, text is on top with a screenshot underneath.
1:17 - Tracer’s Chinese New Year skin is being used. Safe to assume that all skins from Overwatch will be coming to the sequel (furth evidence with various other skins and other characters).
3:21 - Holographic or hard light reconstruction of destroyed statues and architecture (also used to finish the Colosseum).
3:47 - This map shows Doomfist and Tracer, either used for scale or possible story/hero missions.
6:08 - We see for the first time the new looks for Widowmaker and McCree. Zarya is seen here and in various other cutscenes with no updated look. It is possible that she may not have one just yet or won’t get one at all (which would be super sad).
6:40: We see Winston put down his shield. We’ve seen a tracker for how much shield he has left, but the white bar underneath shows its cooldown too.
6:46 - When Mercy is booting a person (maybe other heroes too) a picture comes up with the lightning to show she is damage boosting a person.
7:05 - Lucio’s DJ house/pavilion/club?
7:25 - This is probably an experimental addition to Reinhardt, he is gaining shield (the green) while doing damage, something like Doomfist.
8:21 - This seems to be an early build of Overwatch. The point to capture is much smaller.
8:26 - Who doesn’t miss the souls Reaper would make and pick up…
9:05 - Mercy boosting another hero, but this time, blue arrows around the edges of the screen appear to indicate a player is being boosted.
10:20 - We see Sojourn gain charge on her weapon by doing damage and then releasing that charge with her rail gun ability (as seen in the next picture).
10:21 - pew pew!
11:09 - more pew pew!
11:34 - From this little clip, it looks like Sojourn’s ultimate lets her have unlimited rail gunshots for about 5 or 6 seconds. They still have to charge up, but they charge almost as fast as you can shoot them.
11:36 - More Sojourn ultimate pew pew!
12:31 - We see the Null Sector symbol next to the map title and game type (Retrieval). If the game is showing the Null Sector symbol, it is possible that other symbols would appear there too like Talon, other new factions, or even a variant of PVEVP.
12:40 - It is shown in other shots, but in PVE, it looks like we’ll be able to see the ultimate readiness of our teammates immediately on the side next to their health bars.
12:58 - In the captions, we see the normal voice lines, but also the new objective voice lines said by Tracer..
13:06 - Some hero missions will have revives, but it is possible that other missions or other more difficult ones wouldn’t. Also, we can see another game mode where players have to deactivate terminals in some way or another.
13:13 - This is almost certainly a showcase of a Reinhardt ultimate tweak that could come from the progression system. A full circle ult from him is pretty awesome.
13:41 - Golden guns look to make a return. Hopefully, our golden guns will also be carried over from Overwatch.
13:47 - What is that giant purple thing? It isn’t Zarya’s or Moria’s. It also looks like it is sucking Symmetra into it. Possible enemy black hole damage type of thing?
15:41 - Shields on all the characters, but from where? Is this a mission buff, a new hero ability? Or maybe it is just how they are tracking Brigitte ultimate in this testing state of the game.
16:38 - This is probably for internal use, and will probably change to be more correct looking, but we see these big blue and black canisters being carried by Hanzo and D.Va to be dropped off.
17:02 - If we check the captions again, we can see Soldier 76 magically speaking from the grave to revive him.
17:32 - We see that each hero has a level, it is hard to tell if this is a universal level for playing the game or an individual leveling system. But it’s probable that these levels will allow players to select more talents and a greater number of them.
17:44 - No mask can hide 76’s sexy beard.
17:48 - Along with the beard, we can see how some ways that the trees work. Some talents have their own individual tiers of upgrading, sinking more points into them to make them more potent. Also, there is a reset button next to the “Available Points” which tells us that these may be more akin to builds than permanent upgrades and distributions of points.
17:51 - Next to 76’s abilities, we see his melee. Usually, this doesn’t have a cooldown, but maybe it is a new talent that does a more powerful punch.
18:10 - Mercy’s ultimate or a new talent can now shoot missiles (Battle Mercy 2.0).
18:34 - If you look behind the frozen enemy, we see a volley of Junkrat grenades, is he going to start pumping out five grenades at a time?! Yes, please.
18:46 - A charged shot from Winston’s gun.
19:05 - Two pins on a Reinhardt charge.
20:13 - Even though we see a butt load of guys, it looks like there are nine enemy types in Null Sector shown here with possible elite versions for them too (ten and maybe more if you also count the smoke bomb throwing one shown at 21:53).
22:30 - Instant kills might be a thing. Scary.
22:50 - Sojourn has a second ultimate symbol here! It is unclear if it is just a different symbol, a different ult altogether, or an optional change done through progression.
29:33 - FINALLY! Zenyatta gets some lore love and story beats.
31:50 - The rough storyboards are fun to see, but show that a lot of the writing and actually production has a long way to go before being finished.
32:05 - Standing Zenyatta! Also, he’s holding a ball instead of it floating around him…weird.
34:08 - More Zenyatta lore!
36:54 - Destrucable doorways!
That’s about everything we found through all the footage. Let us know what things look most excited to you guys and point out anything else we forgot! Also, here is the full video below.
