50 Cent Says He's Working on an 8 MILE TV Series and Eminem Is Involved

The 2002 semi-autobiographical film 8 Mile followed a young rapper, based on and played by Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, as he faced growing up in a rough Detroit neighborhood and strived to make his rap dreams come true amid every stumbling block set before him. The film was a critical and box office success, and it launched an already popular Eminem into another category of fame, that of an actor.

In a recent interview with Big Boy, rapper and actor Curtis Jackson, aka 50 Cent, said he’s planning to bring 8 Mile to TV, and Eminem is involved. He said:

“I'm gonna bring 8 Mile to television. We’re in motion.”

He confirmed that Eminem is onboard in some capacity, and teased that it’s “gonna be big.” When asked for more details about the project, 50 Cent said he wanted to work on a TV adaptation of the Curtis Hanson-directed, Eminem-starring film because it “should be there for his legacy.”

“It’s important to me that they understand it,” he added, and compared the approach to that of the 2022 series Bel-Air, which is a dramatic retelling of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He went on to say:

“I’ma do Snoop’s story too, even though we paused on it because of Starz. I was having issues with them over there at the time. So I paused on Murder Was the Case, but I think Snoop is…if the O.J. trial works, why wouldn’t Murder Was the Case work at this point?”

The conversation turns to the Eminem series in the 24:50 minute mark of the video below if you’d like to check it out. Are you interested in watching the Eminem story unfold in a TV series?
