8mm Behind the Scenes Footage From Neill Blomkamp's Horror Film DEMONIC
A few months ago it was revealed that director Neill Blomkamp (District 9 and Elysium) made a supernatural horror film during the pandemic. That film is titled Demonic, and today we have some 8mm behind-the-scenes footage from the film to share with you giving us our first look.
The film follows a young woman who “unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed in this horror-thriller.”
This is the first feature film that Blomkamp has directed since Chappie in 2015. Since then he’s been developing short films for his Oats Studio and trying to get other films off the ground, like a new Aliens film and a RoboCop movie, both of which fell through for him.
Blomkamp and AGC Studios “hatched a plan to make a more nimble production in the meantime in the wilds of Canada’s most westernmost province.” The film stars Carly Pope, Chris William Martin, and Michael Rogers. It’s also said that there’s “a strong sci-fi and VFX component in keeping with Blomkamp’s previous three movies.”
Blomkamp not only directed the film, but he also wrote the script, and he enlisted the help of editor Julian Clarke, who previously worked on Deadpool, District 9, Elysium and Chappie, along with Director of Photography Byron Kopman (Volition).
IFC Midnight will release Demonic in select theaters and on VOD on August 20th.
