A BATMAN BEYOND Film with Michael Keaton Was in The Works, But Not Anymore
Several reports have surfaced about another Batman project that was in the works at Warner Bros. before James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired to lead the charge at DC Studios. This was a live-action Batman Beyond project, which would have seen Michael Keaton back in the role of Bruce Wayne.
Christina Hodson (The Flash, Bird of Prey, Bumblebee, Batgirl) was writing the script. When Hodson pitched her take to the studio executives they were excited and excited and they pushed it into the screenwriting development phase. But, after Gunn and Safran were hired, she was told to stop writing.
According to THR, the story was also said to have also included a romance between Batman and Catwoman and, Michelle Pfeiffer might have reprised her role, which would have been awesome!
As of right now, there’s no movement on the project, but Gunn and Safran could push it forward again… if it fits into their big DC Cinematic Universe plans.
There have been years of fan discussions about Keaton reprising his role as Bruce Wayne in a Batman Beyond film! It’s a smart move and the fans would flip over it! We’ll just have to wait and see if Gunn and Safran want to do it. I hope they do! What do you think?
