Hideo Kojima (Death Standing, Metal Gear Solid) has been working on a major video game project, and that project was recently canceled. As you might image, Kojima is pissed off about it. He revealed the news during an interview with the Japanese site Livedoor, which was translated by VGC

When asked about the plans for his next game, he said, "Recently a major project of mine got cancelled, so I'm pretty pissed, but that's the games industry for you."

There’s no word on what game that is, but it just goes to show that even a powerhouse producer like Kojima doesn’t have free rein to do what he wants regardless of how successful his projects have been.

It’s explained that Kojima Productions had plans "to work on multiple game projects, one of which would be a 'big' game.” Kojima went on to confirm that there is another project he’s working on and explains, "It's still in the early planning stages, so I can't say much, but on the downlow I'm actively working on it."

At least he’s working on developing something! Thanks to the success of Death Stranding, Kojima Productions won't have any money issues. When talking about that he said, “We’ve absolutely crossed the line we needed to cross to be in the black, including recovering development costs, so I’d call it a successful result.

I can’t wait to see what Hideo Kojima has got cooking. It such that one of his big projects ended up being cancelled, though. I wonder what that could have been.
