A BOY CALLED CHRISTMAS is Being Adapted into a Film with a Cast that Includes Maggie Smith and Kristen Wiig

Blueprint Pictures, Netflix, and Studiocanal have teamed up to create an adaptation of Matt Haig’s book A Boy Called Christmas. What’s more is that they’ve announced the following cast members: Jim Broadbent, Zoe Colletti, Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Michiel Huisman, Henry Lawful, Maggie Smith, Rune Temte, Indica Watson, and Kristen Wiig.

These stars will be directed by Gil Kenan who worked with Ol Parker on adapting the screenplay.

The movie will reimagine the origin story of Father Christmas, following an ordinary young boy called Nikolas who sets out on an adventure into the snowy north in search of his father who is on a quest to discover the fabled village of the elves, Elfhelm. Taking with him a headstrong reindeer called Blitzen and a loyal pet mouse, the young boy soon meets his destiny.

I have not read this book, but I could see this becoming a new Christmas classic for many. Are you looking forward to this take on the story of Old Saint Nick?
