A Deleted IT: WELCOME TO DERRY Scene Has Fans Convinced Lily Bainbridge’s Mom Could Matter in Season 2
Even though It: Welcome to Derry Season 2 hasn’t been officially confirmed, a newly released deleted scene has sparked fresh speculation that the Bainbridge family might have a much bigger role to play if the series continues, specifically Lily Bainbridge’s mother, Terri.
The HBO series is structured to move backward through Derry’s dark history. Season 1 takes place in the 1960s, while the next chapter is expected to jump back 27 years to 1935.
That era lines up with the Bradley Gang Massacre, a violent shootout that was teased earlier when soldiers uncovered a line of abandoned cars. For readers of Stephen King’s novel, that moment carries some heavy Pennywise baggage.
The deleted scene was shared by Alixandra Fuchs, who plays Terri Bainbridge. Posted via a series of Instagram story clips, the scene shows Lily cautiously asking her mother about what it was like growing up in Derry. She wants to know if anything as horrific as the movie theater killings from Episode 1 ever happened when Terri was young.
Terri initially shuts the conversation down but eventually opens up about life during Prohibition, when alcohol was illegal in the United States. She explains that some people still “sold it” and “fought over it,” adding that “some of those people lived right here in Derry.”
“So, yes, there were incidents,” she says.
When Lily nervously asks whether those incidents involved a clown, Terri avoids eye contact and doesn’t respond. After a pause, she quietly tells her daughter, “bad things happen all the time, honey. We need to focus on the good.”
The moment feels loaded, as if Terri is holding back memories she doesn’t want to face.
Season 2 is expected to be set in 1935, just a few years after Prohibition ended. it makes sense that Terri’s comments are directly connected to the Bradley Gang. In the novel, the massacre includes Pennywise himself stepping in and gunning down gang members. If Terri was Lily’s age at the time, it opens the door for her to be a firsthand witness to this.
Whether Terri actually appears in Season 2 is still unknown, but Andy Muschietti has already confirmed that younger versions of Season 1 characters will show up in future seasons. That makes the idea far from a stretch.
It would be interesting if Lily’s mother ended up playing a significant role in Season 2. With the show’s backwards timeline, the Bradley Gang Massacre looming large, and this new deleted scene, it’s easy to see that Terri Bainbridge might be more important than she first appeared.
