A Father and His Son Struggle With Pain of Drug Addiction in Trailer For Steve Carell's BEAUTIFUL BOY

Amazon Studios has released the heartwrenching trailer for Steve Carell's new film Beautiful Boy. The film is based on the memoir Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamine by his son, Nic Sheff.

The story chronicles the "heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years."

This is a wonderful trailer and one that might bring out some emotions in you. I know a lot of us may know people who have gone through similar difficult experiences like what we are seeing in this trailer. Carell plays a father who is trying to do everything he possibly can to help his son, played by Timothée Chalamet, break free from his drug addiction, and it's not an easy road to go down.

It looks like Carell and Chalamet give phenomenal performances. The film was directed by Oscar-nominated Belgian director Felix Van Groeningen and it also stars Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan.

Beautiful Boy opens in theaters on October 12, 2018.
