We have a fun new photo from the upcoming film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood today in celebration of Fred Rogers’ birthday this week.

The photo is of Oscar-winning actor, and America’s sweetheart, Tom Hanks doing the iconic shoe change that Mr. Rogers would do every time he came in the door while singing the theme song to Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. The movie also stars Matthew Rhys (The Americans), Chris Cooper (American Beauty), Susan Kelechi Watson (This is Us), and many more.

In the story, “a cynical journalist begrudgingly accepts an assignment to write a profile piece on the beloved icon and finds his perspective on life transformed.” You can read the piece Junod wrote here.

The movie is being directed by Marielle Heller (Diary of a Teenage Girl) from a script written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.

I love Mr. Rogers and I love Tom Hanks, so I can’t wait to see this movie when it comes out on November 22, 2019. How about you? Are you excited?
