A Great White Terror Stalks WWII Soldiers in BEAST OF WAR Trailer

If you're into gritty survival horror with military grit and monster mayhem, you're gonna want to check out the trailer for Beast of War.

Directed by Kiah Roache-Turner, the filmmaker behind Wyrmwood and Sting, this intense World War II thriller drops a squad of Australian soldiers in shark-infested waters after their boat is sunk in the Timor Sea.

With nothing but a life raft between them and the ocean’s most feared predator, the tension ramps up fast as they face not only enemy threats but a relentless great white shark with a taste for blood.

The film leans hard into the creature feature genre and brings strong Jaws vibes, especially echoing the legendary story told by Quint about the USS Indianapolis. That scene has haunted moviegoers for decades, and Beast of War feels like an expanded nightmare version of it.

The story is survival horror through and through, with character drama, interpersonal conflict, and the brutal reality of being stranded in the middle of nowhere while something terrifying circles below.

Starring Mark Coles Smith, Joel Nankervis, Maximillian Johnson, Lee Tiger Halley, Sam Parsonson, and Tristan McKinnon, Beast of War looks like a mix of Predator, Dog Soldiers, and classic Spielbergian terror.

If you’ve just come off the adrenaline of watching Luke Sparke’s excellent dinosaur war flick Primitive War, this is the next wild ride you’re going to want to buckle in for.

The film hits theaters and digital platforms on October 10.
