I’ve been rewatching King of the Hill over the past couple of months, and it’s just a damn good and entertaining show. Creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels did some great things with it, and it looks like they are going to get a chance to create some more King of the Hill magic!

Writer Brent Forrester recently participated in a Reddit AMA, and it was there he revealed that the two creators are in the middle of “hot negotiations” to revival the classic animated series, which originally ran for 13 seasons.

Back in 2017, there were talks of a revival but nothing ever came of it. When a fan asked if there was a chance the revival could come back around, Forrester responded:

“I am sure Greg Daniels and Mike Judge will murder me for sharing this but… HELL YES. They are in hot negotiations to bring back King of the Hill. The Trump administration made it suddenly very relevant again. The characters have all aged 15 years. The project is sooooo good. Okay I’ve said too much :)”

Well, that’s exciting news for anyone who’s a fan of King of the Hill. There’s definitely a lot of comedic stuff to play with there with a middle-class family living a normal life in Texas in the wake of Trump’s presidency. As long as the revival has the same sensibilities as the original did, it’ll be fun.

I also think it’s interesting that we’ll see all of the characters aged up 15 years. You never really see characters age in animated shows, but I like that this show actually plays with that.

Daniels previously reminisced about the show and talked about how fun it would be to make a revival saying:

"I mean, that was a wonderful show to work on. Yeah, that would be a super fun reboot. I feel like that is easier to reboot because you can get all the characters and they all look the same.”

“It would be something that you could decide what happens to them, and you wouldn't have to be going, 'Oh well, that guy's not available.' I mean, they're all available because they're cartoon characters."

Would you like to see King of the Hill revived after all these years?
