A Live-Action GODIZILLA Series Is Coming to Apple TV+ That Will Expand on Legendary's Monsterverse
Legendary Pictures is teaming up with Apple TV+ to develop a new live-action Godzilla series that will expand on the Monstrverse that has been built up with the films that have been made. The series will feature a story involving Godzilla and the Titans.
The series will follow the “thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real. The untitled series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
Maybe this time they can actually do something right and interesting with the human characters? In the last couple of Godzilla films, all the human characters are complete idiots. Hell, maybe they’ll also tell a story that makes sense and isn’t filled with plot holes. Don’t get me wrong, the past couple of movies were fun to watch! But they were a mess.
There’s no word on if the series will set up any future Godzilla films, but I imagine that more films will eventually come.
The series will be produced by Legendary Television and executive produced by co-creators Chris Black, who will also serve as showrunner, and Matt Fraction, alongside Safehouse Pictures’ Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell and Toho Co. Ltd. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita will executive produce for Toho, who is the owner of the Godzilla character and has licensed the rights to Legendary for this series.
What do you think about Godzilla getting a TV series that will expand the Monsterverse? What would you like to see from it?
