A Live-Action PAC-MAN Movie Is in Development with Bandai Namco Entertainment
Bandai Namco Entertainment and Wayfarer Studios have partnered to produce a live-action film based on the classic arcade game Pac-Man. I guess it was only a matter of time before this happened.
Pac-Man was released by Namco back in 1980, and it was my gateway drug to video games. My grandpa used to take me to breakfast with him as a kid at this little cafe coffee shop. I would get a chocolate donut and a hot chocolate and he would give me a handful of quarters to play the one video game that had in the corner of the cafe… Pac-Man. I have a lot of fond memories of that.
Over the years Pac-Man has adapted into a Saturday morning cartoon from Hanna-Barbera, which aired on ABC from 1982-1983, and then there was the CG animated series Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, which debuted on Disney XD in 2013.
The upcoming film project comes from an original concept from Lightbeam Entertainment’s Chuck Williams (Sonic the Hedgehog), and he will produce with Tim Kwok for Lightbeam.
There are no details regarding what the film’s story will tell, but here are a couple of live-action Pac-Man fan films that have made over the years.
