A Live-Action TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Series Rumored To Be in Development

Update: This news was just too good to be true and is not happening. TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman shot down the rumor with the following tweet. Bummer.

It looks like the fan-favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise might be getting a new series except this time, it’ll be a live-action show!

According to The Cinema Spot, the project is being developed for CBS All Access, and the plan is reportedly to adapt the upcoming five-issue TMNT IDW comic miniseries titled The Last Ronin. The brief synopsis for that series is as follows:

"In a future New York City far different from the one we know today, a lone surviving Turtle goes on a seemingly hopeless mission to obtain justice for his fallen family and friends."

This seems like a very different take on the characters than we’ve seen in the past, and I dig it.

The report says that that series is set to be the result of a massive collaboration between CBS, Paramount, Nickelodeon and other ViacomCBS-owned companies. “While it is unclear how far along the project is, we have learned that a series order has not been given out yet.”

I wish I had more details to share or some kind of confirmation that this is really happening, but this is all we’ve got for now and I hope that something comes from it.
