A Lost Song in MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL Has Been Found Once Again

In 1992, Jim Henson gave the world, The Muppet Christmas Carol which has become a holiday classic. Well, when the film was originally filmed, there’s a song sung by Scrooge’s fiancé as she dumps him called “When Love Is Gone.” This song was cut in the theatrical version, but was put back in for the VHS release of the film. The trick is that for every release since the VHS, the song has been omitted as the video master and the negative were lost to the sands of time.

Well, BBC has recently shared that the song has been apparently found and added back into the film for the 4K release. Brian Henson explained that he was called down to take a look at the 4K version of the film and was surprised by the team to see the song included:

I was so excited. They actually hid it... so I went down and they said: 'But before we show it to you, we've got something else we want to show you'. And they put up reel four of Christmas Carol with When Love Is Gone.

I was like, 'No, you did not!' and they said, 'Yes we did! We found it!' I was so happy, I was so happy.

They are all set with the full-length version again. I don't know if they are going to get it up on Disney Plus in time for Christmas because they have all these processes but it is coming back, the full-length version is coming back.

As Henson points out, there’s no word on when or if the song will be added to Disney+. One would hope that they’d hurry and get it up before Christmas, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up too high. Have you heard the song? What do you think of it?

UPDATE (9th December 2020): According to Brian Henson, Disney have found the lost negative for the song and remastered it in 4K. Hopefully it will finally be...
