A MORTAL KOMBAT Vs. DC Animated Movie Was Pitched To Warner Bros. But Rejected

Warner Bros. Animation has developed a ton of animated Mortal Kombat and DC film projects over the years. These animated movies allow them to tell some wild and cool stories that they would never do in live-action. It also allows them to experiment with stories and try out some crazy things.

Jeremy Adams has worked on a lot of these animated projects as a writer and during an interview with CB, he was asked about the possibility of a Mortal Kombat and DC crossover. It totally seems like a project that the studio would want to jump at, but it turns out that a project like this was actually pitched to them and they rejected it.

When he was told, "We need DC versus Mortal Kombat,” Adams responded, saying:

“I would lower your expectations. I don't know if they have any plans to do more. I do know that we pitched that a while ago, but it was kind of rebuffed.”

When asked if Warner Bros. hated money, Adams said:

“Well, I think at the end of the day, I don't know if they're ever going to do any more. I hope they do, and I hope they call me to be involved. That would be great because I really love it. But I don't know. I don't know. I think it would be really cool though. Trust me, I would love to see a DC Mortal Kombat. That would be super, super cool.”

When it comes to Warner Bros. animation, you’d think they don’t say no to anything! They’ve developed some interesting animated movies over the years. It seems like a Mortal Kombat Vs. DC movie would’ve been a no-brainer decision, but I guess not.

Also, in 2008, there was a Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe video game released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. So, they actually did have something from the past to play off of. It wouldn’t have been the first time this crossover happened.
