A Movie About Rubik's Cube Is Currently in Development

Hyde Park Entertainment has teamed up with Endeavor Content to develop and produce a feature film based on the popular toy the Rubik’s Cube. There is also going to be a new game show created that will be based on the global brand by Glassman Media.

Rubik’s Cube was invented by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erno Rubik in 1974. The puzzle game was licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp. in 1980. Over the years, Rubik’s Cube has sold over 450 million cubes worldwide. Since 2018, amateur and professional speedcubers from all over the world have faced each other battling for the chance to prove their skills in the Rubik’s Cube World Championship Finals at Boston.

Producer Ashok Amritraj said in a statement:

“I’ve had a personal and nostalgic connection to the Rubik’s Cube from my early days in India. I am thrilled to partner with Endeavor Content and Rubik’s/Smiley and look forward to creating a wonderful and complex Rubik’s universe.”

Graham Taylor, Co President, Endeavor Content, added:

“The Rubik’s Cube is an iconic and family friendly brand. In Partnership with Hyde Park we look forward to creating film, television, and game show content for global audiences.”

There’s no information on what the story of the Rubik’s Cube movie will tell. It could tell the story behind the creation of Rubik’s Cube, it could tell a story that revolves around Rubik’s Cube World Championship, it could be anything, so we’ll just have to wait and see what comes of this.
