A Movie About the Waco Texas FBI Cult Siege Will Be Developed By Jaume Collet-Serra

The director of The ShallowsJaume Collet-Serra, is set to direct a feature film based on the disastrous 1993 events of Waco, Texas. The project is set up at Annapurna Pictures and it seems like a great project for the director to take on.

The story will center around a standoff between the FBI and Texas state law enforcement and the Branch Davidians cult. The siege lasted 51 days and by the time it was over, 76 people were killed including the cult's leader David Koresh. The whole thing started when the group was suspected of weapons violations. When the ATF attempted to raid the ranch, all hell broke loose.

The script was written by Mark Boal and Marc Haimes, who also wrote the incredible stop-motion animated film Kubo and the Two Strings. So we know that the script is going to be good.

Collet-Serra is a decent director who has previously made Orphan, Non-Stop, Unknown, and he most recently completed shooting The Commuter with Liam Neeson. The whole story behind this film fascinated me and I'm sure the director will do a good job telling this story.
