A New Animated GHOST IN THE SHELL Series is in Production

Following last weekend's release of Paramount Pictures fantastic live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, we have word that Kodansha and the Japanese animation company Production I.G are developing a new Ghost in the Shell anime series.

There aren't a lot of details on the series, but THR says that it will be co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who worked on the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series and Shinji Aramaki, who worked on the anime Appleseed.

Production I.G. has been producing Ghost in the Shell projects since they produced Mamoru Oshii’s 1995 anime classic. The studio also produced Stand Alone Complex and several more. It only makes sense that they would be involved in this newest adaptation of the property.

I'll make sure to fill you in on any other details on the new anime as they become available. Are you excited that we are getting another Ghost in the Shell anime?
