A New G.I. JOE Animated Series Has Been Announced and It's Coming in 2022!
I’ve got some exciting news for all of you G.I. Joe fans out there! A new animated G.I. Joe series has been announced and the first season is set to debut in 2022. There’s also a second season coming in 2023.
The news comes from HISSTANK, who attended the Licensing Con Brazil event, and Marcelo Masotti, Head of Licensing, Hasbro Brazil made the announcement.
There were no details revealed about what network or streaming service the show will air on, there were also no details shared about the plot, but I’m sure it will deal with G.I. Joe trying to stop Cobra from taking over the world.
Hasbro did share a little clip that featured Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow in action. The description reads, “The clip was animated like what we usually see on a typical flashback scene. Moving characters to a static background akin to Mortal Kombat X Endings. Could just be placeholder concept art. Barely 2 seconds. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow are fighting a couple of enemies. Both their designs are brand new and futuristic.”
It’s explained that Snake Eyes looks a lot like a black Power Ranger and has a silver visor. Stormshadow is said to look like the Marvel character Crossbones.
I’m not sure what to think about this, I’d have to see the design before I can judge. But, I don’t like the thought of Snake Eyes as a Power Ranger. We’ll just have to wait and see, but I’m a huge G.I. Joe fan and I’m curious to see what this new show is going to be. I hope it’s good!
