A New Patent Shows Stylus Attachment for the Nintendo Switch May Be in Development

Nintendo Switch fans received some interesting news about a potential new option for Joy-Con. According to a patent filed back on June 4 (but published this month), Nintendo appears to be working on a Joy-Con Strap that has a stylus built-in. While Nintendo recently released an official stylus in Europe, this stylus would have some extra options as it is connected to the Joy-Con.

First, the controller will have the ability to vibrate when interacting with objects on the screen. Second, easy access to the inputs on the Joy-Con means that you can potentially use them to adjust what the stylus can do. The example shown in the patent is that by pushing a button, a thicker line is drawn.

This could open up a new world of possibilities for game developers, so I’m pretty excited to see if this leads to anything real. Also, if it looks like the 3D render made by the team over at LetsGoDigital, it could look very sleek.
