A New SCREAM Sequel Is Moving Forward at Paramount Pictures
As fans expected, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment are officially moving forward with another Scream sequel. The most recent film was great, and it also was a big box office success, so of course, the studio is going to want to make another one!
The directing team Radio Silence, which consists of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, will return to helm the sequel. Writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are also returning to write the script.
Radio Silence said in a statement, “Working with such a wonderful and talented family of creators – and in the lineage Wes and Kevin so expertly built – has been the thrill of a lifetime and we’re so excited to bring the next chapter in the ‘Scream’ saga to life.”
Vanderbilt and Busick said, “Is this real life? Getting to collaborate once again with our friends on the next installment of the ‘Scream’ story is more than we could have hoped for. We are overwhelmed that we get to continue to play in the sandbox that Kevin and Wes created. It is, as Ghostface would say, an honor.”
Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Entertainment shared in a joint statement, “We are tremendously grateful to the fans around the world who enthusiastically received our film. We can’t wait for audiences to see what Radio Silence, writers Jamie & Guy and Project X have in store for our Woodsboro family.”
There are no details on the story, and there’s no word on if any of the original cast members will return for another film. But, if they are moving forward with it, I would hope to see Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox return. They are the only two legacy characters left alive! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what kind of story ends up coming together. They could also follow the surviving characters from the most recent film.
Are you happy to see that a new Scream sequel is being produced? What would you like to see from the story?
Principal photography is slated to begin this summer.
