A New STAR TREK Animated Film Teased Inspired by SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE

It looks like Paramount is looking at making an animated Star Trek movie, which is actually pretty cool and something I’m surprised hasn’t been done sooner. There have been and are animated shows for fans to enjoy, but a Star Trek animated movie would be interesting.

One of the aspects of this project that make it more interesting that that it’s described as a theatrical "four-quadrant family movie" and the fact that producer Alex Kurtzman is taking inspiration from Sony’s incredible Marvel film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Kurtzman explained:

"'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' is still one of the best movies over the past decade, animated or not. It's just an unbelievable piece of artistry. I went with my whole family and another family and we all sat there with our jaws on the floor. Ultimately, 'Star Trek' is about family, it's about these giant universal themes. Getting to tell a story like that, especially given the level of cinema we've already brought to the television show, is a wonderful opportunity. It would thrill me to do that."

Well, I hope that they actually move forward with the project and pull off what they have envisioned for it. As for the live action movie side of things, Paramount President and CEO Brian Robbins said, "I can't wait to get going on it; we're not there yet, but we need to get there soon."

We haven’t seen a Star Trek film since 2016’s Star Trek Beyond. It’s crazy that it’s been so long since anything has happened with the film side of the franchise. We know that there are Star Trek films in development, but we’ll just have to wait and see what comes of that.

Regardless, I’m excited for the future of the Star Trek film franchise! Hopefully they get moving on these projects soon!
