New STAR TREK: STARFLEET ACADEMY Series Is in the Works at Paramount+

The Star Trek universe on Paramount+ is expanding with an all-new series that’s currently in development titled Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. There was actually a video game in the late ‘90s that had the same title.

According to the report, the series is “set among the college of cadets mentored for leadership roles in the United Federation of Planets space force.” I think it’s kinda cool that we are getting a show that is set at the Starfleet Academy. There are a lot of stories, history, and elements there that will be fun to play with.

Starfleet Academy is said to be next in the Star Trek development pipeline after the spinoff series Section 31, which stars Michelle Yeoh. Starfleet Academy will be pitched to Paramount+ shortly. Absentia co-creator Gaia Violo is currently working on a take for the new series project, and the hope is to get it going in the next year.

When talking about the future of the Star Trek series franchise, Kurtzman said, “We have to think several years out. We’re thinking about knowing we’ll want new shows on the air two or three years from now so we have to start planning those now. There’s a bunch of things in development now that are starting to take shape and we’re super excited about it.”

Nicole Clemens, President, Paramount+ Original Scripted Series, teased, even more, shows in the Star Trek universe saying, “I think we have some fantastic offerings in our slate and I think you may see a few more very curated editions coming.”

It’ll be cool to see how these new Star Trek shows turn out!
