A Pagan War Goddess Is Unleashed in Creepy Irish Horror Thriller THE MORRIGAN Trailer
Cineverse has dropped the official US trailer for the Irish horror thriller The Morrigan, and it looks like a chilly, myth-soaked nightmare that’s lining up to haunt winter viewing.
The story centers on Fiona, an ambitious archaeologist who specializes in Gaelic mythology and travels with her teenage daughter to a remote Irish island for a dig that’s supposed to be historic.
It doesn’t take long for things to spiral. Fiona uncovers a burial casket containing a mummified figure, accidentally unleashing a long-imprisoned evil.
When her daughter Lily is drawn to the casket and breaks its seal, a vengeful pagan war goddess known as the Morrigan is released, setting off a brutal chain of events that traps everyone on the island.
A violent storm cuts off any escape as Lily becomes possessed by the Morrigan and begins a bloody rampage across the island. As paranoia, betrayal, and fear spread through the isolated group, Fiona is forced into a desperate fight to save her daughter and stop the goddess before the island is wiped clean.
The trailer teases some seriously creepy imagery and monster-movie moments that feel a bit like The Mummy filtered through Irish folklore, with the Morrigan stalking her prey in relentless fashion.
The film stars Saffron Burrows, James Cosmo, Toby Stephens, Art Parkinson, and Antonia Campbell-Hughes. It’s written and directed by Colum Eastwood, who previously helmed Black Medicine along with several short films.
With its isolated setting, ancient goddess mythology, and a mother fighting to save her daughter from supernatural control, The Morrigan looks like a grim and atmospheric horror thriller that doesn’t pull its punches. If you’re in the mood for pagan horror and creeping dread, this one might be worth checking out.
The film is set to debut on VOD in the US starting February 3rd, 2026, bringing ancient pagan terror straight into living rooms.
