A POKEMON Presents Airs on POKEMON DAY Here are My Predictions and a Wish List

The Pokémon Company International recently announced that on Pokémon Day, February 27, at 6 AM PST, a Pokémon Presents will air on the official YouTube channel. The video is planned to run for 20 minutes full of franchise news to celebrate 27 years of Pokémon. They also released a brief teaser showing tons of people interacting with Pokémon in various ways. You can watch it below and let us know what you expect to see and hope to see in the Pokémon Presents in the comments below. I will be sharing mine just below the video.

I’m going to start with my predictions and you can find my wishlist a little later. I think that we’ll hear about something new for Pokémon Unite, a new event or series of events for Pokémon GO, some physical merch like plushies, a trailer for the new Pokémon anime series, and two other video game announcements. The first of those video game announcements will be additional content (DLC) for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet that will release later this year and also be available as part of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass. I know the team has been working hard to update the games with fixes and I hope that is continued.

The other video game announcement in my prediction is that Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow will be added to Nintendo Switch Online and Pokémon Stadium will hit NSO + EP day of, or at least within a month. I then predict that every 2-3 months, another set of Pokémon games will be added for Game Boy/Color and Game Boy Advance on the online platforms. I expect these games will have trading and battling enabled via online multiplayer and am hoping that things are worked out where you can connect the Game Boy games to Pokémon Stadium to get the most out of that experience. I know there were murmurings when a Japanese video for NSO + EP getting Pokémon Stadium removed the text that said Game Boy games would not be able to transfer Pokémon, but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Now we get to my wishlist. I would love it if they announced that all of the core Pokémon games for GB/C and GBA are released as well as both Pokémon Stadium titles with interplay between them. It would also be awesome if you could connect them to Pokémon Home. Once again, I’m not hopeful, but a guy can dream. I also would think it’s fun if they announced that the spin-off Pokémon games like Mystery Dungeon titles are coming to NSO + EP later this year. Another hope is that they announce Pokémon Trading Card Game 2 will be released in English for the first time via NSO. Other items on my wishlist include an announcement of improvements to Scarlet and Violet, a new spin-off coming next year or even the year after. I want them to stop the tradition of launching a new game every year or two. It’s creating less than stellar games (I loved Scarlet, but it was still a very hot mess and Legends: Arceus was a mess as well). My final wishlist item would be a new anime series that goes back and follows the original Pokémon Adventures manga.

What do you think we’ll see? What do you want to see?
