The first trailer has been released for an interesting looking drama called Clemency. The film stars Alfre Woodard, who plays a prison warden that is preparing to execute another inmate on death row. At the same time, there are people who are fighting to stop the execution from taking place.

Years of carrying out death row executions have taken a toll on prison warden Bernadine Williams (Alfre Woodard). As she prepares to execute another inmate, Bernadine must confront the psychological and emotional demons her job creates, ultimately connecting her to the man she is sanctioned to kill.
As you’ll see, this looks like it’s going to be an intense, heavy, and emotional story. The film was directed by Chinonye Chukwu and it looks like everyone involved with the film give phenomenal performances.
Clemency opens in theaters on December 27th.
