A Projectionist Shows How 70mm Projection Works Using Paul Thomas Anderson's LICORICE PIZZA

For those of you film geeks out there who want a behind-the-scenes look at how 70mm projection works, I’ve got a video here that you’ve got to watch!

The video features projectionist Yves Leibowitz showing off his work in the projection booth of the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn. He gives a tour and shows what it’s like to thread a 70mm film using Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie Licorice Pizza.

I know very little about what goes into film projection, so this was pretty cool and fascinating for me to watch. The art of projecting films like this is dying with the rise of digital projection. There are only a few cinemas out there that still have film projectors, and there are even less that are 70mm-compatible.

It’s great to see people like Yves keeping the art of film projection alive! It looks like a crazy process!
